HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - Awards season continued Monday as the Publicists Guild of America announced nominations for top TV and pic publicity campaign for 1999.

Among the film nominees for the Maxwell Weinberg Publicists Showmanship Award -- to be handed out March 22 at the org's 37th annual awards luncheon at the Beverly Hilton, are DreamWorks' "American Beauty," Warner Bros.' "The Matrix" Sony's "Stuart Little," Paramount's "The Talented Mr. Ripley" and Disney's "Toy Story 2."

Nominees in the television category are publicists for ABC's "Annie," CBS' "Everybody Loves Raymond," CBS' "Judging Amy," NBC's "Law & Order" and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," and NBC's "The West Wing."

HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - DreamWorks' "American Beauty" and NBC's "The West Wing" won kudos Wednesday for the year's best publicity campaigns in film and TV at the Publicists Guild of America's 37th annual awards luncheon.

Universal Studios chief Ron Meyer received the Motion Picture Showmanship award from Denzel Washington, and "The X-Files" creator Chris Carter was honored for TV Showmanship. Walt Disney Co. vice chairman Roy E. Disney received a lifetime achievement award from Angela Lansbury.
