Gil Bellows, Jon Voight, Richard T. Jones and Teri Polo will star in the upcoming Turner Network Television (TNT) Original film SECOND STRING, a comedy-drama about a group of bench warmers who go all the way to the Super Bowl, it was announced today by Julie Weitz, executive vice president of original programming, TNT. Michael London will executive-produce the two-hour film, which is being made with the cooperation of the National Football League. Rob Lieberman (Mighty Ducks 3, Fire In The Sky) will direct the film, from a script by Tom Flynn (Watch It).

In SECOND STRING, the Buffalo Bills' entire all-star offensive squad succumbs to a serious case of food poisoning and is lost for the rest of the season, just one week before the playoffs. Bellows' film credits include the Academy Award(r)-nominated film The Shawshank Redemption, with Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman; Miami Rhapsody, with Sarah Jessica Parker; and Al Pacino's Looking for Richard. He will be seen in the upcoming films Chasing Sleep and Beautiful Joe, which are slated for a 2000 release.

Academy Award(r) and Golden Globe winner Voight first gained national recognition for his performance as Joe Buck in Midnight Cowboy. He went on to give critically acclaimed performances in Deliverance, Coming Home and The Champ. His recent feature film credits include Heat, Mission: Impossible, Rosewood, Anaconda, U Turn, The Rainmaker, Enemy of the State, Varsity Blues and A Dog of Flanders.

Jones currently stars in the CBS television drama Judging Amy and has guest-starred on Ally McBeal. He also starred in the feature film The Wood, and appeared in Book of Love, Kiss the Girls, Event Horizon and What's Love Got To Do With It. He will next be seen in Auggie Rose.

Polo appeared in the feature films Mystery Date, Golden Gate, The House of Spirits, Aspen Extreme, and stars opposite Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro in the upcoming release of Meet the Parents. On television, she has recurring roles on Felicity and Sports Night.
