CBS Renews Eight Series
AP - April 6, 2000
NEW YORK (AP) -- CBS is renewing five of its dramas and
three comedies for the 2000-2001 season, the network
announced Thursday.
Receiving full 24-episode orders are Monday comedies
"Everybody Loves Raymond," "The King of Queens" and
"Becker," as well as Tuesday dramas "JAG" and "Judging
Amy."
Also returning are veteran series "Touched By an Angel,"
"Nash Bridges" and, headed into its ninth season, "Walker,
Texas Ranger."
The CBS vote of confidence applies to just one freshman
show, "Judging Amy," which emerged as the season's
top-rated new drama.
Among current series with their fate undecided is another
freshman drama, the eerie, critically acclaimed "Now and
Again."
So far this season, CBS is in a near-tie with NBC for second
place in household ratings, with ABC on top. The full 2000-01
schedule for CBS and other broadcast networks will be
announced next month.
