'Judging' Hall: New Deal At Fox
The Hollywood Reporter - June 7, 2000
By Cynthia Littleton
Barbara Hall, the writer-producer who developed CBS' "Judging Amy" into
the top new drama series of the past season, has inked a
new seven-figure overall deal with 20th Century Fox TV.
The multiyear pact calls for Hall to remain the executive
producer and show-runner of "Judging Amy" while also
developing new projects for the studio.
With the Amy Brenneman starrer securing a full sophomore
season order from CBS, Hall has joined such
contemporaries as Martha Williamson ("Touched by an
Angel") and Brenda Hampton ("7th Heaven") on the short
list of women currently at the helm of hit primetime drama
series.
"Judging Amy," co-produced by 20th and CBS Prods.,
finished its freshman year as the most-watched new drama,
with an average 14.1 million viewers each week, holding its
own against formidable competition from "NYPD Blue" in
the Tuesday 10 p.m. slot.
