New showrunner sworn in at 'Judging'
Barbee the third person to head up CBS skein this year

Just weeks after production on the sixth season of "Judging Amy" began, Carol Barbee has been upped to exec producer and showrunner of the long-running CBS drama.

Barbee is the third person to head up "Amy" this year. She replaces Richard Kramer, who joined the 20th Century Fox TV/CBS Prods. skein as showrunner over the summer.

Reps for both studios declined comment on the producer switch. An insider on the show, however, said Kramer's departure was due to "production differences" between Kramer and 20th/CBSP.

Barbee joined the writing staff of "Amy" last season, serving as supervising producer of the Amy Brenneman drama. She had previously spent four seasons as a scribe and ultimately producer of NBC's "Providence."

Before "Amy," Kramer was a co-exec producer on Showtime's "Queer as Folk" Folk" and worked on all three seasons of ABC's critically hailed "Once and Again." Other credits include "Picket Fences," "My So-Called Life" and "Thirtysomething."
