Judging Andrea
The Hartford Courant - November 9, 1999
By PAT SEREMET
Andrea Obston, who started her own marketing-communications business 17 years ago, has always loved her logo, the triangular "A" and the circular "O" dramatically side by side.
But now Amy loves it too, as in the TV show "Judging Amy," starring Glastonbury native Amy Brenneman. The show has selected Obston's logo to put on a storefront-looking sign in a future episode.
The news CBS series is set in Hartford, but because it's not filmed here, prop directors in October made a plea for Hartford companies to donate items that would give the movie authenticity. Harriet Dobin, who works in sales at Channel 3 urged Obston to give it a try.
Obston had sent a package of stuff bearing her clients' logo-like file folders from the Hartford law firm Shipman & Goodwin, the Bloomfield firm of Clayman, Markowitz, Pinney & Baram, and the Corporation for Independent Living in Wethersfield. Then for fun, she tossed in a coffee mug bearing her logo.
On Monday afternoon, Obston got the call. Her logo got the nod. And she can't wait to see it on (she pauses for impact) national television. "I'm actually hooked on the show," she said. "Now I know they also have fine judgment in set dressing."
